The 3M’s

July 17th, 2009

Imagine a self help book written by a highly successful individual with years of experience. In this book, the writer provides key principles and highlights them through the use of stories from his career.  I just closed such a book. Now, what if I tell you the writer is Pete Blaber, a former Commander of the 1st Special [...]

Horse Soldiers

July 15th, 2009

Just finished Horse Soldiers, by Doug Stanton.  As I mentioned in a previous post, it covers a historical first that took place on the battlefields of Afghanistan-the first large scale military action led by the Army’s Special Forces, and the largest unconventional warfare operation since World War II. Warrior Elite

July 7th, 2009

I just finished Dick Couch’s Warrior Elite. Interestingly, this might be the first appearance in print of American hero Marcus Luttrell. He was a rollback from a previous class (226) who graduated BUD/S with Class 228-the subject of Couch’s book. Luttrell would later be the only survivor of Operation Red Wing.
Luttrells time in the mountains [...]
